Purpose of this Privacy Policy
This privacy policy aims to inform you how MoMa collects and processes your personal data when you interact with us or use our services. This policy relates to information we collect about all those we interact with including but not limited to: mothers who use or enquire about our services and their children (and infants), healthcare professionals, donors, visitors to our website and the general public.
It applies to any mode of communication and to digital and paper records from when they are first created until they are disposed of.
We ask that you read this privacy policy carefully as it contains important information about what to expect when MoMa holds personal information about you and how MoMa will use your personal data.
1. Who We Are
MoMa is a voluntary organisation and registered Community Interest Company (CIC). We support, inform and encourage mothers who wish to breastfeed their children, through in-person and online meetings, 1-2-1 sessions, and provision of online resources.
MoMa is a data controller under Article 4(7) UK GDPR and section 6, Data Protection Act 2018, and adheres to data protection principles under Article 5 UK GDPR.

2. What Information We Collect
Personal data or personal information means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).
When you seek support, enquire about our services, contact us or visit our website, we may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you.
General Principle
We collect information that is necessary to administer support to mothers seeking breastfeeding information.
The information we retain includes records of face-to-face meetings, telephone calls or your attendance at one of our support groups. We collect personal data online via social media channels, such as Facebook and WhatsApp groups and using SMS text messaging services. Information is also collected when communicating with our support volunteers via video conferencing solutions such as Teams, Skype and Zoom.
Due to the nature of our services, we do collect and process data relating to children (and infants) subject to the support sought from our breastfeeding counsellor volunteers.
We may record the following types of personal data depending on your interaction with us:
a) Direct Interactions
- Personal Details: Name, contact information (email, phone number, home address, social media channels and messaging services), and any other details you choose to share.
- Health Information: Information you voluntarily share about your breastfeeding experience, challenges, or related health matters. This includes relevant pre-and postpartum periods for both mother and child and includes important physical or mental health conditions, and can include personal data about other family members if also relevant.
- Finance Data: in respect of our donors or any other financial information relevant.
- Marketing and Communications Data: includes your communication preferences, and any marketing preferences for receipt of information such as newsletters or events.
b) Website Usage
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and other analytics data collected through cookies or similar technologies.
- Contact Forms: Information submitted via our online forms, such as your name, email, and message content.
c) Social Media and Online Platforms
If you interact with us through social media or other online platforms, we may collect publicly available information from your profile.
Information is recorded and retained to allow us to communicate and provide services to you. We may analyse our data to identify patterns and target support.
It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data requires updating. You can request removal of your personal data at any time.
d) Special Categories of Personal Data
In the normal course of our business activity we may collect Special Category Data about you. This includes sensitive information about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation and information about your health.

In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those volunteers or employees or third party service providers who have a business need to know.
