Patterns and pointers…for watching nappies.
In the early days and weeks, watching your baby’s nappy output: how many wees and how many poos, and their colour, will give you a good indication of whether she is getting enough milk.
- In the first 24 hours of life you should expect to see one black meconium poo
- Expect one wet nappy on day one, two on day two, three on day three, and so on until your baby is passing six to eight wet nappies a day.
- From day two expect your baby to produce at least two runny stools per day. The colour will change gradually from green to a yellowy colour around day five.
