About MoMa Breastfeeding
MoMa Breastfeeding is an entirely voluntary organisation dedicated to supporting mothers who wish to breastfeed their children.
At MoMa Breastfeeding meetings you will find a skilled breastfeeding counsellor who facilitates a discussion into topics related to valuing and preparing, beginning, continuing and ending breastfeeding. You don’t need to be experiencing a problem to come to a MoMa Breastfeeding meeting, but we will support you if you are. You will find a welcoming, nurturing and supportive environment where you can learn from other mothers’ experiences and make friends and connections. MoMa Breastfeeding Counsellors facilitate the discussion and provide evidence-based support and information.
Our breastfeeding counsellors are all DBS checked and insured to offer breastfeeding support and information. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience in supporting breastfeeding mothers, but above all, we are mothers who have breastfed our own children.
MoMa Breastfeeding currently runs a network of local breastfeeding support groups across England and Wales. All support is free at the point of access. We rely on donations to provide our services.

Our Story
As a small group of experienced breastfeeding counsellors trained in mother-to-mother support for breastfeeding, we saw that skills and knowledge were being lost through changes in language and the abandonment of mother-centred practice.
We realised that support for mothers and children that protects the mother-baby dyad is needed more than ever. That is why we have founded MoMa Breastfeeding.
MoMa Breastfeeding will re-establish the wisdom of mothering through breastfeeding, and promote the psychological and physical well being of mothers and children, through education in the technique of breastfeeding.
